Volunteer Opportunities

The City is always looking for “a few good volunteers”. Your participation as a volunteer can be instrumental in making Lake Helen a better place to live, improving the City’s image and fostering a sense of civic pride. The following is a list of current projects, activities, boards and committees that you might find interesting and rewarding to be involved with:

Projects and Activities

Lake Helen-Cassadaga Cemetery Rehabilitation – An ongoing effort is being made to improve the appearance of the Lake Helen-Cassadaga Cemetery. A major part of this effort is the rehabilitation and installation of decorative fencing for the cemetery. If you are interested in participating in the rehabilitation of the Lake Helen-Cassadaga Cemetery, please contact Mr. Ed Blackman at (386) 228-4091.

Creative Arts Café Construction and Progamming – The City is in the process of completing the construction of the Creative Arts Café, a new facility offering services and activities for children and adults alike. If you are interested in assisting in construction, landscaping or programming for the Creative Arts Café, please contact Police Chief Keith Chester at (386) 228-2145.

Adopt-A-Road Program – The City is interested in implementing an Adopt-A-Road program to improve the appearance of roadways within the City. If you are interested in participating in the creation and maintenance of an Adopt-A-Road program, please contact City Administrator Don Findell at (386) 228-2121.

Adopt-A-Park Program – The City is interested in implementing an Adopt-A-Park program to improve the appearance of City parks. If you are interested in participating in the creation and maintenance of an Adopt-A-Park program, please contact City Administrator Don Findell at (386) 228-2121.

Boards and Committees

Parks and Recreation Board– The Parks and Recreation Board expects to have an opening in early September 2008. If you are interested in serving on this Board, please fill out the form below and mail it to Jeannie Barlow, City Clerk, P.O. Box 39, Lake Helen, FL 32744 or drop the form off at City Hall.
